Woodworking With a long history of self-operation, woodworking has existed since the old prison period in Yilan County. In order to cultivate more professional carpenters, the woodworking classes were opened in April 1993 to help the prisoners fully utilize the skills they learned and obtain practical experience to make a living when they return to the society. After the trainees complete the course, they will directly participate in wood processing and decoration, and work with the Environmental Protection Bureau of Yilan County to restore furniture with the goal of “one prison with one or more features". Moreover, we encourage trainees of the woodworking classes to work with the lantern and the paper clay classes to produce and sell innovative products, maximizing the opportunities to apply what they have learned.
